The Art of Parkinson’s Experience: Dynamic Visuals
We’re excited to announce that we helped our partner, Abbott Laboratories, launch a new experience on their website: The Art of Parkinson’s. This virtual gallery features artists who are sharing their stories and their art. All artists in the gallery have Parkinson’s and have undergone deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy to treat their symptoms. Art has helped them explore their experiences and reclaim pieces of themselves.
It was an honor working on the project with the Abbott Neuromodulation team. This project had unique subject matter, specific management needs, and a quick timeline. We look forward to seeing how it grows.
The Creation and Launch of the Art of Parkinson’s Website Experience
In early 2026, the Neuromodulation team came to us with a priority project and a tight deadline. Although Abbott Neuromodulation has long been sharing the experiences of people with Parkinson’s and neuromodulation devices, they wanted to create a new way to share patient stories—an artist gallery that helps celebrate authentic patient voices and share their lived experiences.
The team wanted to ensure that the gallery was visually engaging, included a thoughtful and unique user experience, and was easily scalable since Abbott Neuromodulation expects to add artists to the gallery on a regular basis for the foreseeable future.
The Neuromodulation team focused on creating the messaging and campaign approach, pulling together a related video, and gathering artist information, permissions, and assets. Our team led the strategy and management of the page layout and design, user flows, site integration, technical solution application and management, project management, image production authoring, QA, and deployment.
We were able to define and execute both the technical approach as well as brand-appropriate user experience (including custom design and content) with no dependency on development resources or timelines. Because we already had a well-designed system in place, the planning, designing, creating, and launching of the Art of Parkinson’s experience was completed in one month’s time.
Our History with the Abbott Neuromodulation Digital Experience
We have partnered with the Abbott Neuromodulation team for several years. Our work has spanned solution architecture, site authoring, campaign creation, UX and design, multi-site management, translation management, and a wide range of technical and IT support. One of our largest projects was an extensive site redesign conducted in late 2021 and 2022 in AEM 6.5 cloud.
For that comprehensive site redesign, we focused on strategically using the global design system, templates, components, and experience fragments to create an elegant, easy-to-manage enterprise-level experience. The long-term goal was to create an effective site for Abbott Neuromodulation’s audiences and for that site to be easily managed by the marketing team and their partners (like us!).
The challenge of creating a flexible, extensible, easy-to-manage system for an enterprise organization in an industry that is heavily regulated is no small feat. The U.S. version of the site was successfully launched in 2022, and we have helped to grow and adapt the website as needed ever since including multiple regional site rollouts.
Looking Forward to On-Going Success
We’re pleased with the microsite launch and how well the robust design system and the processes we had in place functioned. There are additional patients and artwork in the pipeline to continue to grow the gallery over the next few months and years. We hope you enjoy exploring the gallery. The artwork and experiences are inspiring.
